When we lay down to sleep; we are totally vulnerable to all that is around us. It is during this time of sleep we unconditionally trust God to protect us and to awaken us at the appointed time. We trust Him to watch over us and all that pertains to us…. while we are sleep. However, when we awake it appears that we say, “Ok God I will take it from here, I don’t trust that You know what is best for me now that I am awake and can feel the anxieties and doubts…that You so mercifully protected me from while I slept.
If God can be trusted to protect us while we are sleep, He is certainly capable of protecting us while we are awake. Don’t throw away your confidence!
One of the most crippling conditions of the mind is fear. Today we are living in a world with so much chaos and uncertainty. Fear seems to be everywhere, fear of what others are saying, fear of not being accepted, fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of COVID-19. Many are watching as their desires and dreams disappear into the tomb of fear.
The challenge as a Christian is to exchange that type of thinking for a “fear dispelling” confidence in God. Yes, it may be a struggle to believe in the midst of what you feel and the situations and circumstances in which you find yourself but God promises that the man who trusts in the Lord and whose confidence is in the Lord is blessed (Jer 17:7). We can be confident that if we ask anything according to His will, we have His total attention and can rely on Him (I John 5:14).
